The 2^nd International Symposium on High Power Laser Science and Engineering (HPLSE2016) was successfully held from 15 to 18 March, 2016. It was organized by Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics (SIOM), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and co-organized by Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). The Conference Co-Chairs are Colin Danson, Xiantu He and Zunqi Lin.

There are about 260 experts and young researchers from 14 countries to attend the symposium. Jonathan D. Zuegel from University of Rochester, Jie Zhang from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Philippe Balcou from University of Bordeaux, Ryosuke Kodama from Osaka University, Colin Danson from ICL, Chang Hee Nam from Center of Relativistic Laser Science presented their plenary talks respectively. Besides, the symposium offers 62 invited and 67 oral presentations, and 46 poster presentations in the fields of high energy density physics, high power laser, advanced laser technology and applications, and laser components for high power laser.

International Symposium Series on High Power Laser Science and Engineering, which is held every two years, aims at bringing together worldwide scientists and engineers working on high power laser and physics. The 3^rd HPLSE will be held in 2018.
