The 1st SIOM International Advisory Committee (IAC) Meeting was held in an all-virtual, web conference format from 14:00 to 18:30 (GMT＋08:00) on November 5, 2020. Bahaa E. A. Saleh from University of Central Florida of USA was the chair of the 1st SIOM IAC Meeting. Efim Khazanov from Institute of Applied physics of Russian Academy of Sciences, and Zhouling Wu from ZC Optoelectronic Technologies of China were vice co-chairs.

Eighteen distinguished committee members from Czech Republic, France, Germany, Israel, Japan, Korea, Russia, Switzerland, and United States of America overcame the difficulty of jet lag and actively participated in the meeting.

Jianda Shao, SIOM director, gave a report named "Work Together to Make Better Laser, Better Life", which introduced SIOM research progress, future development plan, international cooperation, and talent introduction, etc. In the meantime, director Shao expressed that IAC members may give suggestions on SIOM research fields, talent cultivation, international collaboration, and industry planning, etc.

Every IAC member gave the presentation and introduced academic achievements, research experiences, comments on SIOM director’s report, and valuable suggestions to SIOM.

As a group of internationally renowned figures brought together by the SIOM, the IAC aims to pool international wisdom, build international consensus, and advance international cooperation in connection with the SIOM.
